Beginning in the spring of 2011, Aurora University, an NCAA Division III institution, will offer a men’s varsity lacrosse team. At that time, the Spartans will have a conference to call home, the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC). The Spartan men’s program is the first NCAA men’s lacrosse program in the state of Illinois.

Aurora University, an NCAA Division III institution, has hired the first head coach to run the Spartan lacrosse program, the newest program added to the athletic department. Brendan Dawson has been tabbed to run the Spartan men’s lacrosse program, which will begin a varsity schedule in the spring of 2011.

AU men's lacrosse is the first NCAA men's lacrosse program in the state of Illinois.

The Aurora University athletic program had 125 Northern Athletics Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2008-2009 season.
Spartan Football played its first contest in 1900 against East Side High in Mendota, IL.
AU Women's Soccer has won each of the first four Northern Athletics Conference championships
AU has captured 100 conference championships since becoming an NCAA institution in 1982.
AU's men's athletic programs have captured each of the first three Northern Athletics Conference men's All-Sport Championships.
