Northern Athletics Conference Announces 2009 Women's Tennis Postseason Awards

The Aurora University Spartan women’s tennis team concluded the 2009 season with a second place overall finish in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), finishing closely behind Edgewood College.
The Spartans captured titles in No. 3 singles (Lauren Hastings, senior, Yorkville, Ill.), No. 5 singles (Tricia Saylor, junior, Cary, Ill.) and No. 6 singles (Macey Pruett, sophomore, Plainfield, Ill.) and had a second place finish in No. 4 singles (Siri Nelson, junior, Carpentersville, Ill.).
With the titles in their respective single flights, Hastings, Saylor and Pruett were named 2009 All-Conference in the NAC. Hastings won the No. 3 singles final 6-1, 6-4, Saylor won the No. 5 singles final 6-2, 6-7 (0-7), 6-1 and Pruett won the No. 6 final 6-1, 6-4.
The Spartans also had third-place finishes from No. 1 singles (Lindsey Coakley, junior, Montgomery, Ill.), No. 2 singles (Rebecca Papke, senior, Oswego, Ill.) and No. 2 doubles (Coakley and Nelson); and a fourth place finish in No. 3 doubles (Pruett and Amanda Walden, senior, Yorkville, Ill.).
The women’s tennis team concluded the 2009 season with an overall record of 11-4 and 9-2 in the Northern Athletics Conference and a second place finish at the NAC Championships for the second consecutive season.
