The Aurora University Spartan women’s soccer team defeated the Marian University Sabres 4-0 in the semi-final round of the Northern Athletics Conference tournament Tuesday afternoon on Vago Field.

The top-seeded Spartans wasted little time scoring first, as sophomore forward Haley Pschirrer notched her 19th goal of the year courtesy of a assist from sophomore midfielder Samantha Dykema just 1:53 into the contest, putting the Spartans in the lead 1-0.

37 minutes later at the 38:46 mark in the first-half, Pschirrer made the score 2-0, as she scored off a beautiful corner kick
pass from freshman forward Kaitlyn Crohan.

The teams would go into the halftime intermission with the Spartans up 2-0. In the first half, Spartan freshman goalkeeper Liz Wong had to face just one shot which she saved.

In the second half, eight minutes in, Pschirrer tallied her third goal of the contest, this time unassisted, knotching her first hat trick of the season and giving her 21 goals on the 2009 season.

The Spartans were not finished scoring, a mere 12 seconds later, senior midfielder Amanda Hertz scored off a pass from Dykema. The goal was the second of the year for Hertz and for Dykema it was her second assist of the contest.

Wong would go the distance in goal for the Spartans, recording three saves. The Sabres  goalie combination of Tiffany Erdman and Jordan Dykstra both played a half with each giving up two goals.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 15-5 (10-1 NAC) while the Sabres fall to 11-7-1 (6-5 NAC). The Spartans advance to the NAC Championship game and will host the Dominican University Stars. A game time and date is yet to be determined for the contest that will be played on Vago Field. The game will either be on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. or on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 9:30 a.m.
