The Aurora University Spartans defeated the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons 101-86 Saturday afternoon in a

The Falcons and Spartans exchanged baskets in the opening minutes with the Falcons building a 12-9 lead four minutes into the game.

The Spartans would then go on a 10-0 run over the next five minutes, giving them the lead 19-12. Four different Spartans scored in the run, which gave the Spartans a lead they would never relinquish.

askets in the following minutes, and with nine minutes left in the half, the Spartans led 31-27. 

Over the final nine minutes of the first-half, the Spartans would out-score the Falcons 31-13. In the final nine minutes, senior guards, Ari Iventosch and Shane Roland led the way for the Spartans with Iventosch scoring 10 points and Roland dropping eight.

Spartans with a steal with 3 seconds to go and released a lay-up right before the halftime horn went off, giving AU a commanding 62-40 lead.

Top Spartan performers for the half included Robinson, who led the Spartans with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Iventosch led all scorers with 18 points. Falcon senior forward Kyle Barth had 10 points (all in the first four minutes of action).  

The Falcons opened the second half on an 8-0 run to cut the Aurora lead to 62-48 and forcing a Spartan timeout.

Following the Aurora timeout, the Spartans went on their own run, this time a 7-0 run

The Spartans would not look back the rest of the way, as they increased their lead to 85-60 with nine minutes remaining. The Spartans would cruise to the easy victory, winning handedly 101-86. 

Top Spartan performers included Robinson, who tallied his first career collegiate triple-double of 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists. Iventosch led all scorers with 30 points on 9-of-14

shooting from the field, Roland had 24 points and four steals, and freshman guard Chris McMath had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Leading the way for Concordia was Barth (18 points and six rebounds) and junior forward Edward Newton-Kemp (16 points).

With the win, the Spartans improve to 3-6 (2-2 NAC) while the Falcons fall to 5-5 (2-2 NAC).

Next action for the Spartans comes on Saturday, December 19, when they host the Blue Jays of Elmhurst College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
