Spartan Named Northern Athletics Conference Softball Student-Athletes of the Week

The Aurora University Spartan softball team had junior pitcher Anna Snyder (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake H.S.) named the Northern Athletics Conference Softball Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week. On the week in which the Spartans went 4-0, Snyder went 3-0 in the circle for the Spartans. In AU's 24-0 win over Maranatha Baptist Bible College, she combined to throw a no-hit shutout. She had 29 strikeouts, just one walk and allowed two unearned runs in 14-2/3 innings pitched last week. On the season, she is 8-2 with a 0.98 earned run average, 81 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched and opponents are hitting just .138 against (only 26 hits allowed). The Spartan softball team (11-3 overall; 4-0 NAC) is in action next on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, when they travel to Concordia University Chicago in a Northern Athletics Conference match-up. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in River Forest, IL. -END-
