The Aurora University Spartan men's golf team won the Cress Creek Collegiate Invitational hosted by North Central College on Monday, September 21, 2009.
The Spartans shot a 614 in the one-day 36 hole tournament, shooting 307 in each of the two 18 hole rounds. AU out-distanced second place finisher Elmhurst College by 16 strokes (630) while Northern
Athletics Conference rival Benedictine University finished third with a 635, 21 strokes behind the Spartans.
AU sophomore
Brandon Vicory (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) was the tournament medalist, shooting a 147 in 36 holes, with a 73 in the opening 18 holes and 74 in the second 18. He finished five strokes ahead of three competitors, one being Spartan teammate, senior
Shane Roland. Roland shot a 76 in both rounds, finishing with a 152.
