Spartans Ranked in USTFCCCA Top 25

Kibiersza competing in the indoor track and field season
Aurora University Spartan men's track and field program reached another milestone in the short history of the program. The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 2010 Indoor Track and Field Top 25 week two poll that was announced Wednesday,
January 27, 2010, included the Spartan men's program.

The Spartans came in at No. 25 after strong performances at each of their first two indoor meets of the 2010 season.  

AU's men have been led by senior throwers, Adrian Kibiersza (DesPlaines, IL/Maine West H.S.) and Tom Sroka (Justice, IL/Argo H.S.) who each qualified provisionally for the 2010 NCAA Division III Track and Field Indoor National Championships in their respective events.

isionally qualified in the shot put, behind his throw of 16.26 meter which won the event at  the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational. 

Sroka provisionally qualified in his first meet of the season at the University of Chicago Phoenix Invitational. He won the weight throw with a mark of 17.31 meters.

Both Kibiersza and Sroka reached the 2009 NCAA Division III Track and Field Indoor National Championships.  In the Indoor Championships, Sroka and Kibiersza both earned 2009 Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field All-American honors following their respective performances. 

Sroka earned his Indoor All-American honors in both the weight throw and shot put at the championships. He finished fifth in the weight throw with a throw of 17.37 meters (57' 0") and eighth in the shot put with a throw of 15.94 meters (52' 3.75"). Kibiersza earned his All-American honors in the shot put at the championships. He finished fourth in the shot put with a school record throw of 16.46 meters (54' 0").

The indoor championships will be held Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Greencastle, Ind.

Kibiersza, Sroka and the Spartans will be in action on Friday, February 5, 2010, when they travel to Illinois Wesleyan University's IWU Multi's. Meet time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Bloomington, Ill.
