Spartans Gay named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Gay earned the first and final NAC Pitcher of the Week award for 2012.
The Aurora University baseball team finished the 2012 weekly Northern Athletics Conference awards by having junior pitcher Drew Gay (Marsailles, Ill./Marquette H.S.) named the NAC Pitcher of the Week for the
week ending March 15, 2012. 
 
Gay helped the Spartans to the NAC Tournament title, AU's third straight tournament title. He pitched eight innings in a 9-3 victory over Rockford College in the team's second game of the tournament. The junior hurler struck out 12, scattered three hits and allowed just one earned run (three total) to improve his record to 7-0 on the season. On the season, Gay also holds a 1.71 earned run average and has struck out 60 in 68-1/3 innings pitched.
 
Next action for the Spartans team, currently 36-8 overall, comes on Wednesday, May 16. The Spartans will travel to the Midwest Regional hosted by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Whitewater, Wis.
 
Making their 20th appearance and third in as many seasons, the Spartans are the No. 7 seed in the eight-team region and will take on the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse at 7 p.m.
