On Wednesday, December 4, 2013, members of the Aurora University baseball program traveled to Washington, Illinois to help with the tornado clean up. 
 
Nine Spartans along with Head Coach Lane Stahl and Assistant Coach Kirk Williamson spent  
"It was a very fulfilling and eye opening experience," said senior Jared Swain. "Seeing the destruction really made you appreciate every little thing you have because you never know when could be taken away."
 
"This was a humbling and rewarding experience for everyone involved," said Stahl. "The looks on the players faces was definitely memorable. The area looked like something you would only see in movies, devastation was everywhere you looked and everyone involved left Washington that day with a new outlook on life."

The Spartan baseball team will be making another trip down to Washington on Friday, December 13. Part of the return trip by the team will include delivering ornaments from AU students and the Wellness Center. The ornaments are a great way to add a message of support and hope for individuals that could really use a little of both at this time. The Chick-fil-A in Batavia, Ill. will be donating breakfast sandwiches to help energize the Spartans as they head south for the day.
