The Aurora University women's soccer team, winners of the 2014 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Soccer Championship for the ninth consecutive season, were rewarded with a significant placing on the 2014 postseason awards announced Thursday by the NACC.
Spartan senior defender
Lisa Bajkowski (Oswego, Illinois/Oswego H.S) was named Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference, junior forward
Nicci Bermudes (San Diego, California/University City H.S.) was named Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference for the second year in a row and freshman
Beth Robbins (Anaheim, California/St. Lucy's H.S.) was named NACC Freshman of the Year and to the All-Freshman team.. The Spartans also placed three additional players on the All-Conference First-Team, one player on the All-Conference Second-team, two Honorable Mention All-Conference selections and two additional players on the All-Freshman Team.
Bajkowski has started in 18 games for the Spartans at the important defensive midfielder position. She has four goals and seven assists while playing a prominent role in the AU defense that has 12 shutouts and allowed 0.66 goals per game.
Bermudes is in the midst of a record setting season, having set new AU single season records for goals (34), game winning goals (11) and points (80). As a junior, she is the career record holder in game winning goals (24) and is approaching the career goals (has 68 with the record being 73) and career points (has 168 with the record being 174) records.
Robbins has started 18 games, tallied one goal on the season and is a key part to the Spartan defense.
Joining Bajkowski and Bermudes on the NACC women's soccer All-Conference First-Team are sophomore goalkeeper
Rachael Warnock (Naperville, Illinois/Metea Valley H.S.) who has a 15-2-1 record with four shutouts and eight combined shutouts, senior defender
Christine Rohling (Manchester, Missouri/Ursuline Academy) who anchors the AU defense and senior midfielder
Brittany Roydhouse (Melbourne, Florida/Viera H.S.) who has started all 21 games, tallied 11 goals, including three game-winning goals and has seven assists.
AU junior defender
Hunter Coppes (Oswego, Illinois/Oswego H.S.) was named Second Team All-Conference for her role in the AU defense and has two goals with three assists on the season.
The two Spartans selected as Honorable Mention All-Conference are freshman defender
Kaitlin Im Hof (Upland, California/Los Osos H.S.) and senior defender
Mariah Stacy (Coronado, California/Coronado H.S). Im Hof and Stacy played keys roles in the AU defense with Im Hof starting in all 21 games tallying three goals with three assists and Stacy has started 16 games.
Joining Robbins and Im Hof on the NACC All-Freshman team was midfielder
Alexis Bejarano (Phoenix, Arizona/Verrado H.S.) who has two goals, one which is a game-winning goal and three assists.
The AU women's soccer program captured the NACC championship with a 10-0 regular season record. The Spartan women's soccer program, under the direction of Head Coach
Troy Edwards, will make its 11th NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships appearance in the last 14 seasons, ninth trip in the last 10 seasons and sixth consecutive appearance.
AU will travel to Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois on Saturday, November 15, 2014, to take on Concordia College-Moorhead (13-4-3). Game time in Lake Forest is set for 1:30 p.m.
