AU SAAC builds blankets for Project Linus

Members of the AU Athletic Department, SAAC and SATSO working for Project Linus
On Thursday, February 27 members of the Aurora University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Spartan Athletic Training Student Organization (SATSO) sponsored the 12th annual AU Project Linus campaign.

The two organizations were joined by members of AU athletic teams and athletic training students, athletic department staff, the physical education department and general AU community members in Thornton Gymnasium.

"The student athletes of Aurora University agree that Project Linus is a fun way to bring the athletic teams together while working for a common cause," said AU senior and SAAC president Katie Karbowski. "The opportunity to volunteer to benefit the local community is exciting and rewarding for the students."

The group made fleece blankets, 61 total, in about 90 minutes of work that were donated to Project Linus with an eventual end destination of Loyola University Hospital.

Project Linus mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."
