The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted Special Olympians from the Genesee Lake School Pioneers chapter during the 2014 NACC Softball Tournament last Thursday at Alverno Field during the game between the Aurora University Spartans and Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons
During the 4:00 p.m. game, the Special Olympic athletes were publicly recognized and provided shirts and refreshments
compliments of the NACC SACC. At the conclusion of the contest Special Olympians were invited onto the field and interacted with NACC softball student-athletes from the game's participating teams. AU won the game 5-3.
Thursday's event is just one example of the partnership between NACC SAAC and Special Olympics. Earlier in the year, NACC student-athletes participated in a Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics.
NACC SAAC is a proud to be a partner of a Special Olympics. The purpose of the partnership is to improve the lives of Special Olympics athletes through their involvement with NCAA Division III student-athletes and to foster a mutual learning experience between Division III student-athletes and Special Olympics athletes.
