AU’s Carper accepts #Chillin4Charity challenge

Aurora University women's basketball Head Coach Brittany Carper accepted her challenge and took part in the #Chillin4Charity Cold Water Challenge to raise funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Carper was challenged by Dominican University women's basketball Head Coach Gabby Johnson and on Monday, June 30 challenged three colleagues before taking on the cold water. Spartan senior Neely Marks and graduate assistant coach Kayla Waskow had the honor of dumping the cold water on Carper.

The three challenges that Carper made to were Josh Carper, Director of Basketball Operations at Iowa State University; Tim Bernero, Head Women's Basketball Coach Carthage College; and Lora Westling, Head Women's Basketball Coach at Illinois College.

"The challenge #Chillin4Charity is a great initiative started among women's basketball coaches in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund," said Carper. "It has been enjoyable to watch programs across the nation support the cause and I am excited to take part in it."

The Cold Water Challenge and #Chillin4Charity began when Arizona women's basketball coach Niya Butts combined two of America's favorite pastimes — viral videos and raising money for charity — into one brilliant idea that is sweeping the nation and introduced the #Chillin4Charity Cold Water Challenge. After getting herself doused with a bucket of ice-cold water, Butts challenged several of her Pac-12 coaching peers to do the same. Those challenged have 48 hours to suffer the same fate and then pass the challenge on to other coaches. If they don't do it, they have to donate $250 to the cause, while coaches who participate donate $50, according to the rules.
