Spartan Softball Student-Athletes Named CoSIDA-ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

The Aurora University Spartan softball program had two student-athletes named to the 2009 CoSIDA-ESPN the Magazine District V Academic All-District Teams. Junior outfielder Karisa Hansen (Elgin, IL/Larkin H.S.) and sophomore designated player Jessica Scott (Monee, IL/Crete-Monee H.S.) were named to the CoSIDA-ESPN the Magazine District V Academic All-District Teams, both were Second-Team selections. To be considered for the honor, the nominated student-athletes are required to maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average throughout their academic career at AU. Hansen is a business commerce and business administration double major at AU. On the field she hit .355 with four doubles, 11 runs scored and six runs batted in. She was 10 of 13 in stolen bases and had a .388 on-base percentage. Scott is an athletic training major at AU. On the field she hit .436 with 22 runs batted in, 20 runs scored and three doubles. She had a .465 slugging and .486 on-base percentage. Additionally, she was named 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Second-Team All-Region and Northern Athletics Conference First-Team All-Conference. The AU softball team finished with a 31-7 regular season record, won the Northern Athletics Conference Championship with a 22-2 record. The conference title is the sixth straight for the Spartans. The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District teams are selected by CoSIDA member Sports Information Directors within the district based on the student-athletes' academic prowess while being a steady influence on their respective athletic field. -END-
