The Aurora University Spartan baseball standout Steve Salazar (Carol Stream, IL/Glenbard West H.S.), a senior pitcher, was named to the 2010 D3Baseball.com Preseason All-America Team as an Honorable Mention selection.

Salazar put together a strong 2009 season on the mound for the Spartans, in which he was selected as the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Pitcher of the Year and NCAA Division III Second-Team All-Central Region. He led the NAC i

n earned run average with a 2.12 mark and also led the NAC in batters struck out with 77. Overall, Salazar finished the season with a 5-4 record in 10 appearances with five complete games and three shutouts, including a no-hitter against Benedictine University on April 15, 2009.

Salazar and the Aurora University baseball team finished the 2009 season with a 29-13 record and open the 2010 season on Saturday, March 6, 2010 against Beloit College at the Russ Matt Tournament in Winter Haven, Fla.
