AU men finish third at Elmhurst Twilight

The Aurora University men's track and field team competed at The Elmhurst Twilight hosted by Elmhurst University. The Spartan men finished third out of 10 teams with 105 points.  
 
In the 1500 Jacob Bohnert ran his lifetime best of 4:08.27. Jeremiah Cooley, Jacob Hernandez, and John Hunter all ran season bests. Hunter also won his heat. Cormac Dietz placed third in the 5k with his lifetime best of 16:16.32. Fernando Viveros, Cris Valencia, and Alex Dills all ran 5k PRs as well.  Nick Valle (2:10.09) and Francis Balquin (2:11.96) PR'd in the 800.  
 
Dylan Whisenant won the shot put with a PR of 13.86m (45'5.75") on the last throw, after a great series where all his throws were over 13 meters. Christian Carpenter placed second in shot put and threw a six-meter lifetime best of 26.66m (87'6") in hammer.  In discus, Bryan Sackie-Mensah threw his lifetime best. Carlos Flores and Eric Teverbaugh PR'd in the long jump. 
 
In the sprints, Eli Grundman and Isaac Heard both PR'd in the 200m. Teverbaugh ran a 25.06 for his fastest 200. Heard also matched his 100m lifetime best with a time of 11.77. 
Malik Whitehead (third) ran his PR of 11.32 in the 100m. Danyrine White won the 400-meter dash with a lifetime best of 51.35. 
 
Whitehead, White, Heard, and Grundman were also on the 4x100 meter relay team that finished with their season best time of 44.30. 
 
The night ended with a second-place finish for the 4x400 meter relay of Hernandez, White, Cooley, and Bohnert. Their time of 3:30.81 is a season best and ranks them first in the conference.  
 
Next action for the Spartan men is Friday, April 30 when they travel to Lisle, IL for the Red and White Invitational hosted by Benedictine University.
