Aurora University junior thrower Samantha Owens (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower H.S.) and freshman jumper Nick Williams (Port Charlotte, Fla./Port Charlotte H.S.) were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 13, 2013.
 
Williams set multiple school records in his first collegiate meet at Lewis University as he was selected as the NAC Student-Athlete of the Week. He set AU records in the long jump (6.99 meters) and triple jump (13.62 meters) as he placed first in the long jump and third in the triple jump.
 
Owens set a personal best in the weight throw with a distance of 14.36 meters and for her efforts was named the NAC Student-Athlete of the Week. She also placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 11.03 meters at the Lewis University Invitational.
 
Next action for the Spartan men's and women’s track and field teams comes on Friday, January 18 when they travel to North Central College for the Cardinal Opener. Meet time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Naperville, Ill.
