It's On Us

“It’s On Us” is a national campaign aimed at raising awareness and bringing an end to sexual assault on college campuses. Aurora University is joining this cultural movement to fundamentally shift the way we think about sexual assault by holding each other and ourselves accountable. It’s On Us to stop sexual assault.
 

The Facts

• 1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men are sexually assaulted in college.
• 40 percent of survivors fear reprisal by their attacker.
• Only 2 percent of incapacitated rape survivors report assault.
• Only 13 percent of rape survivors report assault.
• 8 in 10 victims knew their attacker (friend, significant other, etc.).
• It is estimated that between 2 and 7 percent of sexual assault reports are false.

What You Can Do

“It’s On Us” is meant to create a cultural shift in the way we think about, talk about and act around sexual assault by doing two things:

1. Establishing a sense of ownership over the problem, among everyone.
2. Providing tips, tools and inspiration to empower everyone to make a difference, every day.

 

It’s On Us...

• To recognize that non-consensual sex is sexual assault.
• To identify situations in which sexual assault may occur.
• To intervene in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.
• To create an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.
