Aurora University sophomore infielder Carlos Olavarria (Rosemont, Ill./East Leyden H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Position Player of the Week for the week ending March 10, 2013.
Olavarria hit a team-best .615 (16-for-26) over the final six games of the spring trip for the No. 21 Spartans. He connected for a hit in each of the games, had seven doubles, scored 10 runs and drove in four from his leadoff position.
Olavarria is hitting .513 (20-for-39) and is on a nine-game hit streak to begin the 2013 season. He has eight doubles, 13 runs scored and five runs batted in.
Next action for the Spartans, currently 6-3 overall, comes on Wednesday, March 20, when they travel to North Park University. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in Chicago, Ill.
