Aurora University football junior linebacker Kam Dawtyne has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Dawtyne earned the NACC honor with his performance in AU's 28-26 Homecoming victory over Concordia University Chicago. He made 14 tackles to lead the Spartans defense in the win over Concordia Chicago. He had the biggest play of the day when he intercepted a pass, hurdled a would-be Cougar tackler and ended up in the end zone 49 yards later for the go-ahead touchdown.
 
On the season, Dawtyne has a team-leading 46 tackles with 2-1/2 tackles for loss, four pass break-ups and the interception which he returned for a touchdown.
 
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Alma College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (EST) in Alma, Michigan.
