Aurora University women’s soccer player senior forward Jessica Novickas (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park HS) was named the Northern Athletics Conference Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Novickas led the Spartans to the 2009 Northern Athletics Conference women’s soccer tournament championship. She had the game-winning goal in the second overtime against Dominican University in the NAC tournament final on Friday, advancing AU to their sixth NCAA tournament in the last nine seasons.
The Spartan women, led by Novickas, finished the regular season with a 16-5 overall record and captured their 11th conference title in the 16 seasons of the program’s existence. AU will make its sixth NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championships appearance in the last nine seasons and fourth trip in the last five seasons.
Thus far on the 2009 season, Novickas has 11 goals, five game-winning goals, nine assists and 31 points.
Novickas and the Spartans received a Pool A berth after winning the Northern Athletics Conference tournament championship and will travel to the University of Chicago on Friday, November 13, 2009, to take on the host Maroons. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m. at the University of Chicago.
