Aurora University men’s basketball junior guard Anthony Boykins (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central HS) was named the Northern Athletics Conference Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week.
On the week, Boykins averaged 25.7 points and 6.3 rebounds while AU went 1-2 on the week, with the two losses by a combined five points--a triple-overtime 119-118 loss to North Central (Ill.) and a 102-98 loss to Loras. In AU's 136-121 win over Grinnell, Boykins had a game-high 32 points on 14-of-16 shooting from the field.
Thus far on the season, Boykins is averaging 21.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He is shooting 53.4 percent from the field (39-of-73).
Boykins and the Spartan men’s basketball team will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College this evening, Tuesday, December 1, 2009, in the Northern Athletics Conference season opener. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis. AU will play on Saturday, December 5, 2009 against Edgewood College. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. in Madison, Wis.
