Aurora University freshman women's golfer Kallie Sakamoto was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Athlete of the Week following her first collegiate tournament.

Playing in her first collegiate event, Sakamoto tied for second place in a field of 95 golfers at the Shootout on the Border hosted by Carthage College. She fired rounds of 80 and 77 to finish at 13-over-par 157 on the par-72 layout at Bristol Oaks Golf Club and was just two strokes off the winning total of 155. The Spartans finished sixth out of 17 teams in the event with a 683 total.

The Spartans and Sakamoto return to the course on Sunday, September 9 when they compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship preview tournament. The meet will take place at Meadowbrook Golf in Racine, Wisconsin.
