Aurora University men’s track and field thrower senior Tom Sroka (Justice, IL/Argo H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Competing in the indoor portion of the Spartans’ schedule, Sroka provisionally qualified in the weight throw for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships with his throw of 16.99 meters at the University of Chicago Margaret Bradley Invitational.
The provisional mark in the weight throw is his second such mark as he qualified in his first meet of the season (University of Chicago Phoenix Invitational) with a throw of 17.31 meters.
He won the weight throw with the mark of 15.13 meters and won the shot put with a throw of 15.13 meters.
The Spartans took a runner-up finish at the nine-team event.
Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team comes on Saturday, February 27, 2010, when they travel to the Northern Athletics Conference Championships hosted at Carthage College. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
