In early June, Aurora University student-athlete, Alexis Abelove (women's soccer) participated in the 2019 NCAA Career in Sports Forum (CSF) at the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.

At the completion of the forum, she took time to reflect on their experiences as part of 200 student-athletes selected to participate in the four-day event.

Alexis Abelove -
The Career in Sports Forum was an amazing learning experience and has opened my eyes up more about a future career in intercollegiate athletics. Throughout the weekend, we were presented with the opportunity to network with current professionals in the field. They also shared and provided us with advice on how they were able to get where they are now. My favorite session was presented by Will Baggett, from College Football Playoff, who discussed the importance of personal and professional branding. His presentation was very engaging and gave advice about building meaningful relationships with potential mentors.

This forum has impacted my thoughts and interests about a potential future career in sports industry. There are a plethora of careers in the world of intercollegiate athletics. After this weekend, I believe my passion in life is for sports and that is something I want to be around. I took a little piece of advice from each speaker I heard from this weekend.

I am thankful for my coach, Shannon DeNinno, for presenting me with this unique opportunity to take part in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum. I am very grateful for the opportunity I was given this week to represent Aurora University. Additionally, I have been lucky enough to be exposed to various administration around campus who have contributed to instilling and cultivating a new level of dedication for sports off the field for me. Everyone has been so helpful and they truly want students to be successful in whatever they want to pursue.
