Throughout the 2020-2021 year, the Aurora University athletic department will highlight the senior student-athletes. The seniors will provide some insight to their time at AU while getting to know them as individuals they have grown into in their time as a Spartan.

Senior Spotlight: Josh Boyko (Men's Hockey and Lacrosse)
Majors:Â Business Administration and Marketing
What are your plans after graduation? I would like to go on and play pro hockey whether that be in North America or overseas.
What is your most memorable/best academic experience at AU? The most memorable academic experience I have had so far at AU has got to be building a website in Professors Stern class. I say this because it is something that I will bring into the working world with me and I had no idea how to go about making one and now I do.
What is your most memorable athletic moment at AU? My most memorable athletic moment so far at AU was when I became AU first men's ice hockey All-American.
Other than the sport(s) you play; what other sports activity are you good at? I believe that I am pretty good at football. Played a lot of flag and touch growing up with friends and family.
Outside of sports, what is your favorite hobby or activity? Some of my favorite hobbies outside of sports is going fishing or playing cards. This past summer, because my whole my whole family was together a lot more, we played a lot of cards.
What is your favorite meal in the cafeteria? My favorite meal at the cafeteria would have to be the stir fry station where you can basically ask for everything and they'll put together something really good for you.
What AU faculty or staff member had the greatest impact on you and why? I would have to say Jacqueline Babb and Elizabeth Grabowski. I have found both of their classes to be a lot of fun and I have learned a lot from them. They're both easy to talk too and are very understanding of my sports schedule.
What do you enjoy most and least about practice? There is not much I do not enjoy about practice. What I enjoy most about practice however, is that I am with all my teammates competing in something we all truly care about.
Do you have any pregame rituals? I go to Starbucks and get a medium caramel frappuccino and a chocolate brownie with my teammate LA. Once I get to the rink, me, Danny and LA go over to the corner of the rink and play sewer until the rest of my teammates arrive. After warming up, I put my headphones in and relax until game time.
What advice would you give to underclassmen at AU? Enjoy every moment because it goes by so fast and before you know it you are a senior dressing up for your first last practice as a college student.
If you had to listen to one song on repeat forever, what would it be and why? I think that it would have to be "More Than My Hometown" by Morgan Wallen. I love the beat and it is just a really chill song.
What is something that people may not know about you but should? Honestly, I am pretty much an open book. But if I had to choose one thing for people to know about me that they probably don't, would have to be that I am a huge sushi fan and can eat that almost anywhere at any time.
If you could spend an hour each with three people (past or present), who would you choose and why? I would have to say my grandpa on my dad's side and then both grandparents on my mom's side. I have heard so many great stories about them and how well we would have gotten along and how proud of me they would have been.
