Throughout the 2020-2021 year, the Aurora University athletic department will highlight the senior student-athletes. The seniors will provide some insight to their time at AU while getting to know them as individuals they have grown into in their time as a Spartan.

Senior Spotlight: Kristin Gessay (Women's Track and Field)
Major:Â I am a nursing major and a minor in physiology and psychology
What are your plans after graduation? Living my BEST life!!:) In all seriousness, I hope to be taking care of people around the state, while still being able to travel. Therefore, I plan to be a traveling Nurse later on after graduation.
What is your most memorable/best academic experience at AU? My most memorable academic experience would have to be going online due to corona and being a part of SNA of course.
What is your most memorable athletic moment at AU? My most memorable athletic moment at AU would be when I helped contribute to our teams win of conference champs three years in a row, ow ow!!!
Other than the sport(s) you play; what other sports activity are you good at? Other than running, I like to hike in new spots and attempt to play tennis with my friends.
Outside of sports, what is your favorite hobby or activity? I would have to say my favorite hobby is hanging out with my friends.
What is your favorite meal in the cafeteria? I don't eat at the cafeteria, but I know how to make delicious tacos in my kitchen.
What AU faculty or staff member had the greatest impact on you and why? My head coach had a great impact on me because he would always check in on me about my injuries. My injuries were a major set-back for me, hence he helped me come up with alternative ways to keep me healthy and not over worked.
What do you enjoy most and least about practice? I strongly dislike waking up at the crack of dawn to go to practice, but I do enjoy seeing my teammates and knowing I had a good workout in.
Do you have any pregame rituals? Personally, I like to jam to music on the bus before our meet starts.
What advice would you give to underclassmen at AU? To all the underclassmen, go out and try new things, meet different people and do whatever makes YOU happy!!
If you had to listen to one song on repeat forever, what would it be and why? OOOO this is a hard question, but the song I choose is.. "Weekend (SNBRN remix)" by Louis the child and Icona pop, because it hypes me up and always puts me in a good mood.
What is something that people may not know about you but should? Something that some people may not know about me, but I wouldn't say they necessarily need to know, is that I hate my bellybutton being touched.
If you could spend an hour each with three people (past or present), who would you choose and why? I would choose Steve Carell and Will Ferrell because I absolutely LOVE the office and to laugh. The last person would be the one and only Madison Erickson because I don't spend enough time with her already!!
