Aurora University attackman Pat Diorka (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley H.S.) and defenseman Corey Loubert (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central H.S.) were named Midwest Lacrosse Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 27, 2011.
Diorka and Loubert, both freshmen, helped lead the Spartans to a 2-0 weekend with wins over Berry College (11-6) and Centre College (11-4). The two wins improved the Spartans’ record to 3-3 overall in 2011.
Diorka had five goals and an assist in the two games, including three goals and an assist in the 11-4 win at Centre. Loubert was key to the Spartan defense that only allowed 10 goals in the two games, leading the defense with seven ground balls. In the two wins, AU was 41 of 46 on clear attempts behind Loubert.
Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, when they host the first home contest in AU history. The Spartans will host Trine University at 4:00 p.m. on Vago Field in Aurora, Ill.
