Aurora University Spartan softball sophomore second baseman Brooke Spencer (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Softball Position Player of the Week for the week ending April 3, 2011.
Spencer led the Spartan offense in all categories as AU went 7-1 on the week and 4-0 in NAC play. She had team highs in runs (9), hits (14), doubles (4), RBIs (13), total bases (27) and home runs (3). Spencer had a walk-off three-run home run to in a 14-6 win over Alverno College on Sunday afternoon.
On the season in which the Spartans are 12-6 overall and 4-0 in the NAC, Spencer is hitting .396 with five doubles, three home runs, 14 runs batted in and 13 runs scored.
Next action for Spencer and the Spartan softball team comes on Thursday, April 7, 2011, when they travel to Millikin University. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. in Decatur, Ill.
