Aurora University Spartan baseball junior pitcher Drew Gay (Marsailles, Ill./Ottawa-Marquette H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 3, 2011.
Gay pitched a complete game in a 5-1 victory over Lakeland College on Saturday afternoon on AU’s Solfisburg Park. He struck out 10 and scattered five hits over 9 innings for the win.
AU is currently 10-5 overall and 2-0 in the NAC. Thus far on the 2011 season, Gay is 3-1 with a 1.87 earned run average, one complete game, two combined shutouts and 32 strikeouts in 33-2/3 innings pitched.
Next action for Gay and the Spartan baseball team comes on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, when they travel to Edgewood College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Verona, Wis.
