www.aurora.edu) – Aurora University Spartan softball sophomore shortstop Brooke Spencer (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Softball Position Player of the Week for the week ending April 17, 2011, her second time receiving the award this season.
Spencer led the Spartans as AU went 5-1 on the week and 3-1 in NAC play. She hit .632 (12-for-19) with two doubles, three home runs, 10 RBIs and nine runs scored on the week. She had a 1.211 slugging percentage, was one-for-one on stolen-bases and had a .682 on-base percentage.
On the season in which the Spartans are 19-7 overall and 9-1 in the NAC, Spencer is hitting .457 with seven home runs, seven doubles, 28 runs batted in and 24 runs scored. She has a .552 on-base percentage with 15 walks and a slugging percentage of .857.
Next action for Spencer and the Spartan softball team comes on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 when they host Rockford College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Stuart Sports Complex.
