Aurora University men's golf standout Braeden Duncan was announced as one of 21 male spring sport student-athletes from all levels of the NCAA to be a recipient of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Duncan will receive a $10,000 scholarship from the NCAA to finish his graduate degree work.

Each year, the NCAA awards 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have completed their final year of athletics competition. The scholarships are distributed three times annually — in the fall, winter and spring — providing 21 scholarships each to men and women per season. The award is a one-time, nonrenewable scholarship aimed at funding graduate study at an accredited institution.

NCAA Anniouncement

Established in 1964, the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program promotes and encourages graduate education by recognizing the Association's most accomplished student-athletes. The program evaluates candidates on their athletic and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service and leadership. An equitable selection process ensures that all nominees, regardless of sport, division, gender or race, are considered fairly.

Duncan is one of a handful of winners from the NCAA Division III level to earn one of the scholarships this spring. He joins a stellar field of winners that includes multiple athletes from major Division I colleges, including Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Ohio State.

A recently graduate student-athlete from Macomb, Illinois, Duncan earned his undergraduate degree after graduating with a 4.00 GPA with a degree in pre-physical therapy. He recently finished his athletic eligibility at AU and will enroll this fall at the University of Florida Department of Physical Therapy.

The postgraduate award is the latest in a list of accomplishments Duncan has accrued over his time as a Spartan. Today he earned First-Team Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC). He earned NCAA Division III Men's Golf Elite 90 honors each of the last three seasons, was named a Golf Coaches Association of America All-Region selection three-times, a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference All-Conference recipient four times and will be named a NACC and AU scholar-athlete for a fourth consecutive season later this summer.

The 2024-2025 Spartan men's golf program, led by Duncan set a new program standard with a ninth place finish at the 2025 Championship event with a four-round score of 1,195. The Spartans won their eighth straight Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship while making a seventh straight NCAA Championship appearance which resulted in a program best finish.
