Aurora University men's cross country runner junior Drew Schmitt (Batavia, Ill./Batavia  H.S.) has been named Northern Athletics Conference Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Schmitt won the Waubonsee Chief Invitational, which was a 5.3 course length, with a time of 28:41. His winning individual medalist honors helped AU win the overall meet with 22 points.
 
The next action for Schmitt and the men's cross country team comes on Friday, September 9, 2011, when they host the AU Spartan Classic. Meet time is set for 5:45 p.m. at Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora, Ill. with the women's race starting at 5:00 p.m.
