Aurora University freshman Rob Izzo (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North H.S.) has been named Northern Athletics Conference Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week.
Izzo set an AU freshman record with his time of 26.53.3 in the Augustana College Brissman/Lundeen Invitational on Friday, Sept. 23. He finished 91st of 403 entrants in the 8K event. The Spartans finished 17th out of 33 teams in the meet.
With the NAC award, Izzo continues the Spartans streak of winning the first four men's cross country student-athlete of the week awards as fellow Spartan Drew Schmitt won the previous three.
The next action for Izzo and the men's cross country team comes on Friday, October 7, when they travel to the Benedictine University Eagle Classic. Meet time is set for 4:15 p.m. in Lisle, Ill.
