The Aurora University baseball team had two student-athletes earn weekly Northern Athletics Conference awards for the week ending March 4, 2012.
Senior outfielder Josh Davidson (Cypress, Calif./Cypress H.S.) was named the NAC Position Player of the Week, while junior pitcher Drew Gay (Marsailles, Ill./Marquette H.S.) was named the NAC Pitcher of the Week.
Davidson started 2012 where he left off in 2011, hitting .455 (5-for-11) in the first three games for the Spartans on their spring trip. He had a double, three runs batted in and four stolen bases to start the season.
Gay led AU to an 8-4 win over Wartburg College in the season-opening game for the Spartans. The right hander allowed just two earned runs and struck out four in 7-1/3 innings pitched in the victory.
Next action for the Spartans team, currently 4-1 overall, comes on Wednesday, March 7, when they take on Bridgewater College in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. Game time is set for 11 a.m. in Auburndale, Fla.
