The Aurora University baseball team swept the weekly Northern Athletics Conference awards for the week ending March 11.
Junior designated hitter Cory Walden (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) was named the NAC Position Player of the Week, while sophomore pitcher Brad Warnecke (Aurora, Ill./Oswego East H.S.) was named the NAC Pitcher of the Week.
Walden hit .500 with 12 hits, including four home runs, two doubles, 12 RBIs and six runs scored in seven games as the Spartans went 5-2 on the week. His week was highlighted in a doubleheader sweep over Beloit College where in the two games, he hit three home runs and knocked in seven runs.
Warnecke went 2-0 on the week for the Spartans in two starts. He allowed just five hits and two runs, neither earned, in 12 innings pitched as he struck out 14 batters and walked just five.
Next action for the Spartans, currently 7-3 overall, comes on Saturday, March 24, when they travel to Monmouth College for a doubleheader. Game one is set for noon in Monmouth, Ill.
