Aurora University long-stick midfielder Spencer Fuqua (Cypress, Calif./Los Alamitos H.S.) was named Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 1.
Fuqua, a sophomore, led the Spartans to a 2-0 week with wins over Augustana College and the College of Mount St. Joseph. The two wins improved the Spartans' record to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the MLC.
In the two games, Fuqua had 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. He finished with three ground balls and four caused turnovers in the 9-2 win at Augustana College and he then had 11 ground balls and three caused turnovers in the 15-14 win over Mount St. Joseph.
On the season, Fuqua has 30 ground balls and a team-leading 27 caused turnovers.
Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on Wednesday, April 4, when they travel to Trine University. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Angola, Ind.
