Aurora University senior outfielder Ryan Adams (Geneva, Ill./Geneva H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Position Player of the Week for the week ending April 8, 2012.
Adams was vital in Aurora's offensive explosion on the week in which they averaged 13.67 runs per game. He hit .583 with six runs scored, eight runs batted in, two doubles and was 2-for-2 in stolen bases. Additionally he had a .625 on-base and .750 slugging percentages on the week. In the Spartans' sweep of Lakeland College, he went 6-for-10 with two doubles, drove in six runs and scored five. In a non-conference victory over the University of Chicago, he was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two runs batted in.
On the season, Adams is hitting .388 with five doubles, two triples, 17 walks, 30 runs scored, 24 runs batted in and is 12-of-13 in stolen bases.
Next action for the Spartans, currently 18-4 overall and 7-1 in the NAC, comes today, Wednesday, April 11, when they travel to the University of Chicago. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in Chicago.
