The Aurora University Spartan women's tennis team defeated the visiting Eagles of Benedictine University 6-3 at Washington Middle School on Tuesday afternoon.
AU got out to a quick 4-1 lead, winning by default in No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. The No. 1 doubles pair of
Christy Savellano and
Chloe Madison won 8-6 and No. 5 singles
Kate Richerson won 6-1, 6-0.
Needing just one more singles match to secure the win, AU got two with Savellano winning at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-3 and Madison winning at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0.
With the win, AU is now 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Next action for the Spartan women's tennis team comes on Saturday,
September 14 when they host Lakeland College (10 am) and Marian University (2 pm) at West Aurora HS in Aurora, Ill.
