For the fourth time in a week the Aurora University men's basketball team took to the court, this time in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Spartans led throughout and held on late to win their fourth straight NACC contest 67-58.
AU once again got a balanced scoring effort with four players in double figures and 10 players scoring in the game, led by senior
Kyle Pilmer (14 points and eight rebounds), junior
Tyler Hall (14 points and three assists) and juniors
Kalmon Stokes and Nick Kladis each had 11 points.
The Spartans built a quick 8-1 lead just over four minutes into the game and at 11:47 in the opening half a
Sean Gant three gave AU their biggest lead of the half at nine points (16-7).
After Wisconsin Lutheran trimmed the AU lead down to one the Spartans answered to take a six point lead (36-30) into halftime.
The second half saw the Spartans control the tempo and expand on the lead. When Hall drained a three with 6:39 to play the Spartans held a 17-point lead at 61-44. Over the next 3:30 the Warriors came roaring back with a 13-0 run and cut the AU lead to four at 61-57.
Hall again answered the bell, draining another three and pushed the Spartan lead back to seven at 64-57. With 30 seconds left AU held a comfortable 10 point lead and only a Warrior free-throw would add to the score as the Spartans would hold on to win 67-58.
With the win, AU is now 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan men's basketball team comes on
Wednesday, December 10 when they travel to Dominican University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in River Forest, Illinois.
