AU took advantage, scoring eight more times with six hits and three Lakeland errors. Senior Jared Swain hit a three run home run for the big shot of the inning. After the inning ended, AU led 15-6.

The Spartans tried to invoke the mercy rule in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly by Tim Brann that scored Danny Walczak for a 16-6 lead.
