Box Score 2 The Aurora University baseball team finished the 2014 season with a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader against the Eagles of Edgewood College. AU lost both games, losing 8-2 and 5-3.
Game One

Pitching dominated the action for the first four innings of game one though the Spartans did have chances, leaving three runners stranded in the opening frames.
In the fifth, Edgewood manufactured one run and got a solo home run off AU starting pitcher
Cody Love to take a 2-0 lead. The Eagles would add two more runs to take a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning.
The Spartans did cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth with Danny Walczak leading off with a triple and scoring on a wild pitch. With two-outs in the inning,
Jake Monson hit a solo home run to right for the 4-2 deficit.
Both teams left the bases loaded with no runs scoring in the seventh. In the ninth, Edgewood added four insurance runs to put the game out of reach. The Eagles got the runs off relief pitcher
Jared Steck. All four runs were unearned as Steck surrendered four hits but was bite by one fielding error behind him.

The Spartans gave starting pitcher
Tyler Findlay an early lead in the second inning. With
Tim Brann on first base,
Brandon Graham doubled to score Brann with Graham being thrown out at third trying to stretch the hit into a triple.
Edgewood scored in the third aided by a lead-off walk that came around to score for a 1-1 game.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Dillon Popovich gave Findlay and the Spartans the lead again with a lead-off solo home run and a 2-1 lead.
But as they did earlier, Edgewood answered back in the top half of the next inning, manufacturing a run to tie the game 2-2.
In the top of the sixth, Edgewood would score twice more. With runners on first and second and two outs,
Josh Kwasny came in to relieve Findlay. Kwasny surrendered a single that scored two for a 4-2 Eagle lead.
A one-out walk in the top of the seventh came back to haunt Kwasny and the Spartans again as the walk was followed up by a double to push the deficit to 5-2.
In the bottom half of the inning,
Adam Lipscomb doubled with one out and scored on a single from Graham.
That was all the scoring the game would see as AU would fall to Edgewood 5-3.
With the losses, AU finishes the 2014 season with a 10-28 overall record and were 6-14 in the NACC.
