The Aurora University women's tennis team hosted the Inferno from Alverno College and the Warriors of Wisconsin Luterhan College on Saturday, September 13. AU swept the day, defeating Alverno 8-1 and Wisconsin Lutheran 7-2.
In the opening match of the day, the Spartans opened the match by sweeping the doubles play. Doubles teams of
Christy Savellano and
Chloe Madison won 8-2,
Micaela Mascha and
Abby Matayka won 8-2 and
Jordyn Withey and
Jamie Huff won 8-4. In singles action, Madison won 6-1, 6-1, Mascha won 6-2, 6-4, Matayka won 6-2, 6-4,
Melanie Findlay won 6-3, 6-4 and Withey won 6-1, 7-5.
The afternoon session with Wisconsin Lutheran saw a similar outcome as the morning match as the Spartans jumped out to an early lead and coasted to the 7-2 win. Doubles teams of Savellano and Madison won 8-6, Mascha and Matayka won 8-3 and Findlay and Huff won 9-8 with a 7-4 tie-breaker win. In singles action, Madison won 6-2, 6-0, Mascha won 6-0, 6-0, Findlay won 6-2, 6-2 and Withey won 6-0, 6-3.
With the sweep, AU is now 4-4 overall and 4-2 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's tennis team comes on
Tuesday, September 16 when they travel to Concordia University Chicago. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m. in River Forest, Illinois.
