The Aurora University women's tennis team clinched an appearance in the 2014-2015 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament after defeating the Eagles of Benedictine University 6-3 on Friday afternoon.
AU got out to a quick 2-1 lead after doubles play concluded with Spartan doubles pairs of
Micaela Mascha and
Abby Matayka and
Melanie Findlay and
Jamie Huff each winning their match by an 8-5 score.
The Spartans then continued to ride the doubles momentum into singles play winning four of the six contests.
Chloe Madison won at two singles 7-5, 6-1, Mascha won 6-4, 6-0 at three singles, Matayka won 6-2, 6-2 at four singles and
Jordyn Withey won at six singles 6-0, 6-1.
With the win, AU is now 6-5 overall and 6-3 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's tennis team comes on
Saturday, September 27 when they travel to Lakeland College. Match time is set for 10:00 a.m. in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
