The Aurora University men's tennis team traveled to Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, April 25 to take on Marian University and Edgewood College. The Spartans defeated Marian 9-0 before falling to Edgewood 7-2.
In the opening match against Marian, AU coasted to the win, only allowing 11 points against with
Ricky Hernandez winning easily at No. 1 singles (6-0,6-0) and then combining with
Brian Koski at No. 1 doubles to win 8-0. The win over Marian clinched AU's spot in the NACC Tournament.
Moving into the second match of the day with Edgewood, the Spartans had to take on a fresh Eagle squad and fell 7-2. Koski won at No. 2 singles (7-6, 1-6, 10-3) and
Tom Asavarachan won at No. 6 singles (6-2, 7-6(7-5)).
With the split, AU is now 4-8 overall and 4-4 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan men's tennis team comes on
Monday, April 27, 2015 when they play in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. Seeds are still to be determined with the location of the meet on
Monday being based on the seed.
