The Aurora University Spartans won their second straight contest at the Wheaton College Invite to get back to .500 on the year with a 10-7 victory over Cornell College on Sunday afternoon..

HOW IT HAPPENED- AU scored twice in the bottom of the first inning as
Nicholas Mathey reached on an error and came around to score on a wild pitch and later in the inning
Nick Turner scored on a sacrifice fly out from
Dillon Popovich after reaching on a walk.
- Cornell pushed one run across in the third inning.
- AU answered with
Mike Cherven scoring on a single from
Jeffrey Mayes.
- In the fifth, Cornell scored three runs and chased AU starting pitcher
Jacob Stockman from the game.
- Spartan
Adam Lipscomb tied the game in the bottom half of the inning when he singled and later came around to score.
- The Spartans regained the lead in the sixth, courtesy of three Cornell errors and two walks. At the end of six, AU led 7-4.
- In the seventh the Spartans once again took advantage of walks and a hit by pitch to score two more runs and lead 9-4.
- A one out triple in the eighth by
Cale Sparks was followed by a run scoring single by
Mike Cherven and AU now led 10-4.
- In the ninth, Cornell led off with three straight hits and
Jeff Woods came on in relief of
Aron Okamoto who had worked three strong innings.
- Cornell scored three times in the ninth but the Spartans held on for the 10-7 victory.
