The Aurora University softball team split a NACC doubleheader at Marian University on Sunday afternoon. The loss is the first for AU in a regular season NACC softball contest in almost two full years.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS

Laura Dierking was two for four with a home run, two runs batted in and two runs scored.

Taylor Moore was two for three with a home run five runs batted in and one run scored.

Stephanie Starr went two for two with two runs scored and one run batted in.

Amie Raynor went two for two with five runs batted in and one run scored.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Spartans scored eight runs in the first inning, sparked by a homerun from Laura Dierking that scored Mandy Shrader who reached on walk. Amie Raynor singled up the middle that scored Elaine Walker and Larkin Langston. Taylor Moore then homered which scored Logan Cahill, Amie Raynor and Stephanie Starr.

- Marian would score once in the bottom of the first to end the inning with the Spartans leading 8-1.

- Amie Raynor would keep the scoring going in the top of the second inning when she had a SAC fly to right field that scored Elaine Walker.

- Taylor Moore that single up the middle that scored Starr going into the third leading 10-1.

- Mandey Shrader would score in the top of the 3^rd inning on a pass ball.

- Steph Starr had a SAC fly to center field that scored Laura Dierking.

- Raynor singled up the middle scoring Langston, giving the Spartans a 13-1 lead.

- Marian scored once in the bottom of the 4^th closing the Spartans lead 13-2.

- AU would grab one more run in the top of the 5^th on a SAC fly from Raynor that scored Bachtell.

- Spartans defeated Sabres 14-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- AU took the early 3-0 lead started off by Elaine Walker who singled up the middle scoring Dierking. That brought up Amie Raynor who singled to second scoring Langston. Logan Cahill then singled up the right side that scored Elaine Walker

- Marian cut the lead off of a home run in the bottom of the 3^rd. The Spartans led 3-1 through three innings.

- AU got back the run in the top of the 4^th on a SAC fly from Shrader scoring Cahill. AU led 4-1 through 3.5 innings

- Marian scored on a double in the bottom of the fourth to close the gap 4-2 heading into the 5^th inning.

- Marian scored three runs in the bottom of the 5^th give them the first lead of the day 5-4.

- AU's Laura Dierking singled up the middle scoring Grace Riley to tie the game at 5-5.

- Marian had the walk off single in the bottom of the 7^th that ended the game 6-5.
