The Aurora University women's bowling team competed in their second tournament of the season at the Brunswick Bearcat Open in Fairview Heights, Illinois on Friday, October 27, Saturday, October 28, and Sunday, October 29. The Spartans posted a 2-11 overall record.
On Friday, October 27, the schedule consisted of 5-person team game that resulted in a record of 1-4 for the Spartans. AU opened play with a match against Arkansas State University losing 921-740. The Spartans then went and won a close second match against St. Francis University-PA 847-843. AU lost the final three matches of the day to Drury University (819-763), University of Alabama-Birmingham (892-780), and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (879-741).
On Saturday, Spartans ended the day having a 0-5 record. AU dropped the first two matches against Maryville University (924-681) and McKendree University (1009-790). The third match of the day, against Prairie View A&M University took the match 836-736. The Spartants concluded that day with two additional losses to Stephen F Austin University (1081-742) and Monmouth University (915-656).
Sunday, October 29, Spartans started the day off with a tough loss against St. Francis College-Brooklyn (849-708). AU then went and defeated North Central College (636-525) in the second match of the day. The Spartans concluded the tournament with a loss against Drury University (914-711).
Hannah Mackie had the top AU average of 179 and Jenna Mendez followed behind with a 168.2 average.
Next action for the Spartan women's bowling teams is a three-day tournament starting on Friday, November 3 at the Valparaiso University Crusader Challenge in Highland, Indiana (Lakewood Bowl).
