The Aurora University softball team hosted longtime rival and fellow NACC softball power Benedictine University on Wednesday afternoon. The teams split the doubleheader with AU winning game one 5-2 before falling in game two 2-1.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS / HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
- AU fell behind in the second inning on a BU solo home run.
- In the third, the Spartans scored three times with a
Mandey Shrader single,
Elaine Walker two run double and
Laura Dierking run scoring single doing the damage.
- BU manufactured a run in the fourth but AU still led 3-2.
- The Spartans added needed insurance runs in the fifth. A one out single from Walker got the inning started and she would score on a double from Steph Starr. Starr later stole third and scored on a
Taylor Moore single.

Britni Wilson made the lead hold up and earned her 10th victory of the season.

- AU got a lead off double in the second inning and she would score on a double from
Lauren O'Daniell for a 1-0 Spartan lead.
- Benedictine scored single runs in the third and fourth innings.
- The Spartans loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth but could not pick up the needed clutch hit.
- AU starting pitcher
Kaylee Hayton got out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth, keeping the AU deficit to 2-1.
- The Spartans got two on with two outs in the sixth but could not get a run across.
- AU fell by a 2-1 final score.
