The Aurora University Spartan baseball team hosted North Central College in a non-conference tilt at the Stuart Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon. AU clubbed 15 hits and scored 14 runs while winning 14-4 in 8 mercy ruled innings.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS
Nick Turner was three for four with a double, three runs batted in and two runs scored.
Adam Lipscomb was two for three with a double, two runs scored and one run batted in.
Jeff Woods earned the win on the mound with seven innings and struck out seven, at the plate he was three for five with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Cole Davis was two for four with two runs batted in and one run scored.
Austin Wiskow was three for four with two runs batted in and one run scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans fell behind in the second inning, 2-0 with AU starter Jeff Woods allowing four singles but striking out the side to get out of any further damage.
- AU answered right away in the bottom of the inning with five singles and three walks to score five runs and lead 5-2. A lead they would never give up.
- North Central added a run in the third but Woods again limited further damage.
- A three run fourth inning with four hits including a two run double from Nick Turner pushed the AU lead to 8-3.
- Two hits and two more walks in the sixth plated two runs for AU and the Spartans led 10-3.
- North Central plated one run in the eighth but reliever Nick Mathey limited the Cardinals to the single run.
- Leading by six (10-4) in the eighth, AU got four hits and drew three walks to score four times and enact the 10-run rule.
- A Jeff Woods single scored Cody Gregory with the final run and AU won 14-4.
